Anytime Prayer (Luke 10)
- Are we restricted to where and when we can pray?
- Do we have to pray in a certain place, certain way and certain position?
- Must I close my eyes?
- Do I have to pray only at home?
- When praying for someone, must I look at them in their eyes?
- Do I have to pray out loud?
Now how about these questions:
- Can I pray while driving in my car?
- Can I pray for a building/shop/shopping complex?
- Can I just talk to God without having to be in some or other situation when doing so?
- Silent prayer?
- Can I pray for someone in a coffee shop, for example or a shop teller while they are working?
Praying to God is really a full time occurrence that does not need to be set to specific times. Problem being with this, is that we then tend to sideline God to certain times of the day and certain time slots. The truth is, God wants us to speak to Him ALL OF THE TIME!
1 Thessalonians 5:17 says "Pray continually"
Ephesians 6:18 praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints.
Talk to God in your car, obviously you cannot close your eyes, but that is not a must. You don't have to bow your head. All you need to do is know that your are speaking to your Saviour and know that God is always with you and IS listening, ALWAYS.
Praying doesn't just consist of talking either. Praying can be singing, humming, talking in tongues and merely thinking about God.
Psalm 95:2 Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving; let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise!
When you walk into a shop, ask the teller how her day is. Possibly meet the need. This can be just listening to him/her or as physical as buying them a chocolate. It may be that you"know" of someone that can help them in their situation. MAKE THE CONNECTION!
Its costs you nothing, but glorifies God. How?? Well, This is what Jesus did on earth, and people will be able to see that in you as well.
Some people may even ask you how you live a life so 'helping', 'courteous' or 'loving'. This then gives you the opportunity to explain.
Its hard, but only at the beginning when you make the first connection.
Important! Don't be embarrassed, ever. Who cares what others think?
This can be applied anywhere. Go for it.
Why? Well read Luke chapter 10 in Gods Word!
Glorify Gods name, ALWAYS
Blessings.
