Do you worry about everything?

I am a natural worrier. I worry about everything.
I ask myself questions like: "Why is this happening?", "Will it get better?", "What will the future hold?","Retirement?", "Work?" etc etc...

Did you know that 85% of the things we worry about never actually happen? I am talking about things that we think may affect us in the future, bad things that will come our way...but then never actually do.

Its OK for the bible to say, "Don't worry about anything and trust in God!"
I don't know, but I fond this difficult. Don't you often feel that something that you are worrying about is out of Gods hands and you feel that God is not helping you. Sometimes I get the feeling that whatever I am worrying about is my problem, and I am not getting any kind of help from God.
Then how can we trust Him to help us?

In 1 Peter 5:7, we are told to give all our worries to God. Hand them over to Him. Why, because He cares for us.
This is all lovely and sweet, but often I don't feel any different when I have forgiven all my problems to God to deal with. In fact, often I am disappointed because by giving God my worries and burdens, I expected them to just "go away" because now they are off my shoulders and I am later even worse off than I was because things just come tumbling back down in heaps.

Well, as it says in 1 Peter 5:6-7, we need to humble ourselves before God. It doesn't mean saying to God, "Well here, you sort it out. I am going to carry on with my life and expect that it is all gone by next week."
God will not 'fix' what you can fix yourself. God will do what you cannot do, and that is carry the burden of worry. But if its something that you are able to 'fix', then do it.
Handing over worry to God doesn't mean its a one-man game and then we can sit back and watch everything change in front of our eyes. So we cant be irresponsible about it.

Worrying is not something that we are supposed to have in our lives, if we trust God. We are actually doing the devils work for him.
Stop being stubborn. If you trust God, and really believe that he cares about you, then why not ask His help?

Here is a excerpt from Joyce Meyers article called "The cause and cure for worry".

Worry or Worship?

Worry and worship are exact opposites, and we'd all be much happier if we learned to become worshippers instead of worriers. Worry opens the door for the devil, but worship is reverence and adoration for God that leads us into His presence. God created us to worship Him, and I don't believe we can walk in victory if we don't become worshippers. Sometimes when we don't have what we need or want, the enemy tries to discourage us and keep us from worshipping God. But when we know that God has our best interests at heart, we can worship Him regardless of our circumstances. Remember, God is good even when our circumstances are not! God doesn't always give us our heart's desire right away. He wants us to develop a deep, personal relationship with Him and an outrageous love for Him so much so that we can't live without it. This kind of relationship and love brings the worshipful attitude that God wants us to have.
To worship means "to reverence," or "to defer to." We are to have reverential fear and awe of God. We are to respect and honor Him, and defer to Him by submitting to and obeying Him, and adapt ourselves to His will. We must realize that Christ, living in us, has come to lead and guide us into a special lifestyle of worship and victorious living. When Satan throws worry on you, I challenge you to stop what you're doing, get down on your knees before God, and begin praising Him. Worship is a spiritual weapon, a warhead or bomb you can use against the enemy. Your prayers and worship will get you heavenly help, and you won't have to fight your own battles. God's grace and power can make things happen with ease that you can't bring about no matter how much you struggle.
So stop worrying about everything, give it to God, and live in grace. Grace isn't just divine favor—it's power! Don't waste another day of your life worrying. Determine what your responsibility is and what it is not. Don't try to take on God's responsibility. When we do what we can do, God steps in and does what we can't. So give yourself and your worries to God and begin enjoying the abundant life He has planned for you.

Next time you feel overwhelmed, try handing over all the burden to God. He wants you to. This is why God is our Saviour, this is why Gods Grace is so everlasting, this is why God is so caring. Pray to God always, Have faith in His promise to talk care of our worries!

Praying For Others

Have you ever been in a situation where you just know that Gods presence is required. Someone is sick or hurting or in pain, and you just feel that you can do nothing about it because its "out of your hands!"

But there is something you can do. It may be out of your hands but there is someone who's hands hold everything, everyone and are waiting for you.
God, our Saviour! God our Healer!

When your spouse or child or family member falls sick, do you just say "Ag Shame, why not lie down", and then carry on with your daily routine because you think that there is nothing you can do and they should take medicine?
Why not pray for them?
If you don't feel comfortable praying for them out loud in front of them, then do it silently.
Ideally, who could anoint them with oil. This was a widely practised function that used to happen in the times of the Bible.
The oil was used as a symbol of the presence of God.

Now days, we can keep on with this anointing. You don't have to go out and get real Holy oil from the church that has been blessed. Do it yourself.
Go into your kitchen cupboard, get some cooking oil. That's all!
Pray over the oil. Pray Gods blessing over the oil and that the oil may be a symbol of God during this time of healing. Pray Gods Spirit over the oil.

Its not about the substance, Its about the meaning and purpose of what you are doing!
Anoint the person, pray over them that God may protect and heal them.
This doesn't always mean they will "all of a sudden" jump up and be healed. (Although sometimes this does happen).
Sometimes God doesn't always think it the best time toheal someone. (Through weakness we grow strong in faith!)
Its not for us to decide and it doesn't mean that your prayer rendered useless. As we know, God is always listening, but He will never do anything that is against His will or plan for someone life.
You are just bringing someones illness to God!
James 5:14 - Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord.
Yes, the "elders" above doesn't just mean the "experienced, strong faithed" people at church. You can be that person.

Prayer doesn't get mans will done in heaven....Its gets Gods will done on earth!

Our Father in Heaven

Why do we say Our Father in Heaven in the Lords prayer?

By saying this, we admit that we have a higher power than us. We admit that "Our Father", is in fact the King of this world, universe and heaven.
It also says that we all have the same father!

God invites us to truly believe that He is our Father and that we are His children. We can ask God anything anytime and like a real father would do, He would listen and keep a tentative ear open for His children's requests and concerns.
God wants us to approach Him always, come to His throne, speak to Him and tell Him our concerns and basically anything that we really want to.

Don't speak to God like you do through a telephone. There is no mobile app that we can 'quickly' tap into God and tell Him our issues,
We need to talk to God all the time, be intimate and even though you think He knows your life already and He know your issues, you still need to engage in an intimate relationship with God.
I know I am at fault with this, but don't quickly close your eyes, waffle on a few words, wants, needs and blessings for the day and then carry on with your life as if God is now put on the back burner, but will jump in if something bad happens or one of your prayer requests needs action.
Often, as humans, we use holidays, alcohol, purchasing appliances and exercise as our "Go To" if we feel stressed and cannot cope.
Why not try God as Well?
God is the only who can direct us to live life as He meant it to be!     (Isn't that what we strive for?)
We can approach God very personally, by saying Our Father in Heaven. We are stating that He is above anything else in this world, and above anyone in this world.

We are not able to live a life that God intended for us. We are human, we sin, we are evil by nature, but we need to be brave enough to admit that we need someone greater than us and have the confidence to talk to Him.
Our Father which art in heaven
Hallowed be thy name...

Sometimes its difficult to admit that there is someone greater than we are and then often we try to control our own lives, but we actually don't understand the true meaning of life and what its about...so why not turn to our God, who created us, knows what we need and always has His ear open to listen to us and importantly,
Always wants to have a personal, intimate relationship with us.
Read Matthew 6:9.

Am I going to follow Jesus today?

Have you made that decision?
Did you wake up this morning and say YES to following Jesus today. If you haven't yet....perhaps now is a good time?

Sometimes I wonder to myself, why cant I be like that person or why cant I be such a good christian like another person that I see at church.
Sometimes I wonder, why do so many people have this 'haze' around them that just shouts out "I love God, I serve God only and my faith in God is so big!"
Why don't I see that in my life, today?

Sometimes the things that I do in my daily dealings or the things that I say, straight away I think to myself, "I bet that so 'n so doesn't do these things or say these things, I must be a bad christian!".
Often I also think to myself, Why cant my faith be so big that I don't worry about anything because I trust God so much to help and guide me everyday.

But when we become a christian believer, we cant just expect to have this huge faith in Christ, live a life 100% like Christ. We all have to start somewhere. Its a process.
Our faith starts out as an insignificant little bud, but then it is our responsibility to grow that Faith into a much bigger, stronger and solid faith in Jesus Christ.

Faith starts in trusting God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. We all have to believe in something or someone in our lives. Hopefully, your choice, like mine, is God!

But growing your faith relies on how much you allow God into your life. How much do you:
  • Read Gods Word
  • Pray to God, talk to Him on a daily basis
  • Obey God in everything
  • Witness to others about your Saviour and what He did in your life
  • Trust God (This gets stronger as you develop your relationship with Him)
  • Allow the Spirit to witness to you daily?
Growing as Christian is a matter of choice. You choose, each day to follow God, to speak to Him, to ask His guidance, to allow Him into your life.
If you answer NO to the questions above, then all your "faith growing" will render useless, which is why we need to ask God EVERYDAY to come into our lives.

Have you decided to follow Jesus today?

Do we have enough? (What is your Safety Net)

Sometimes I sit in TV room and just think, how blessed we are. I have everything. I have a family whom I love,I have a house, cars, a great job, a swimming pool and STUFF!
Stuff being all the great things in my house like TV's, radios, appliances, heaters, computers, ADSL etc etc etc...
But is this enough?
How much is enough?

I sit and think, I am happy. I have all the STUFF I need in my life.I am comfortable.
Yes, I have worries, concerns and issues in my life that I need to deal with, but overall...I am happy with what I have achieved already.
And as I grow older, I will hopefully send my kids to a private school, I will be able to buy a nicer/bigger car. I will have the newest flat screen TV on my wall, maybe I will be playing golf on Friday afternoons...whatever. STUFF that makes me happy!

Today I woke up and thought, what happens when I am on deaths bed. When, one day, just before I will depart this earth...What happens to all my STUFF?
What happens to my expensive car or my flat screen TV or my swimming pool?
Will this stuff, that kept me happy in my life, come with me when I die.
What happens to my family. Will they die with me and we all go to some central place where we can reunite and live as a family once again?
Can I take my iPad with me when I die?

Um...No! None of this happens.
Often I think we all have a safety net. Something that we can always fall back on when we are going through life.
But shouldn't your safety net be something that is eternal. Shouldn't your safety net be something that you know is always there, something that cares about you as an individual? In fact, I would imagine your safety net should come from your creator! (Where we came from)

What is the point of gathering all these nice things and then dying and leaving them in this world for someone else?

I am not saying that I am not going buy luxurious goods. Of course I will, God gave humans a talent to produce these things for us to live comfortably and happily.

What I am saying though, is that I am going to try and not use my "luxurious" goods as my safety net. Instead of throwing so much importance to my appliances and car, why not trust in someone that is eternal....GOD!

God was there when we were born and God will be there when we die in this very short life on earth. Instead of taking your "luxurious" goods with you when you die, you will meet up with your eternal Saviour, Jesus Christ.

He will ask what you did in your life that He gave you?
What did you accumulate in your life and what did you put your trust in?
And you will say.............?????

Today.....just think.......What is your safety net?

Spiritual Senses (Sense of Smell)

Often the sense of smell is the first one that is activated when we do something. Before we put something into our mouths to eat, our nose has already done its job by smelling if the food/drink is fresh and not 2 years old.
When the sense of smell is damaged, often we make ourselves sick without knowing about it because our "first in line' sense has failed.
This applies to our spiritual life as well. Often we 'consume' things that we haven't picked up as bad/evil.
This is a spiritual gift that we should use to keep our spirits from being infected from false teaching. We should be able to smell out any false teachings from others and stop it in tracks from entering our thought patterns.

Smell the wonderful fragrance of God.
Don't let the smell of death come near you or enter into your spirit. It is so easy to fall into the pattern of the world.

2 Corinthians 2:14-17Now thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and making known through us the fragrance of His knowledge in every place. For we are the fragrance of Christ to God among those being saved, and among those perishing. To some we are the fragrance of death leading to death, but to others the fragrance of life leading to life. And who is sufficient for these things?  For we are not as the rest, corrupting the word of God; but as of sincerity, but as from God, we speak in the sight of God in Christ.

We train our spiritual senses to discern between good and evil and by reason of use our spiritual senses can make distinction between the voice of the Father, the voice of Jesus and the voice of the Holy Spirit and the voice of angels and discern what they are speaking, showing us and where they are leading us. Our mind is like in the middle point of a integration with our physical senses on one end and the spirit man’s senses on the other end and in order for us to hear the voice of Father God or Jesus or the Holy Spirit or angels we have to train ourselves to continually switch back and forth between our spiritual senses and our natural senses.

How far is the East from The West?

Psalm 103:12 - as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.
What does this mean? Well God is saying that our sins are forgiven forever if we ask His forgiveness. But just what does He mean here - the whole East to West thing?

If you started walking somewhere on earth in a Northerly direction you would reach the North pole sometime, but then after that (if you carried on walking in straight line), you would end up walking south, towards the South pole. L
Likewise if you swapped that around you would either be walking north or south but after sometime, that would swap to south or south depending on your direction.

Now if you started at the same point as above and walked in a westerly direction, you would never come to a place where you started walking east. You would always be walking in a westerly direction, forever, for eternity!
East does not meet west and west does not meet east!

So, wherever you are on earth, if you ask God for forgiveness, you will be forgiven. You will be able to turn the other way and walk, and never have to pass that place again!
Isn't that wonderful.

Let all that I am, praise the Lord. Don't let others stop you from fully praising the Lord. Sometimes we feel embarrassed to sing out loud to the Lord or worship Him. The Lord wants all of us and if we are embarrassed by the Lord, He will be embarrassed by us when judgement day comes.
Praise all that the Lord has given us, all the time, forever!

Just to leave off with some of the lyrics from the Casting crowns song "East to West":

Jesus, can You show me just how far
The east is from the west?
'Cause I can't bear to see the man I've been
Come rising up in me again

In the arms of Your mercy I find rest
'Cause You know just how far
The east is from the west
From one scarred hand to the other

I know You've washed me white
Turned my darkness into light
I need Your peace to get me through
To get me through this night

I can't live by what I feel
About the truth Your word reveals
And I'm not holding onto You
But You're holding onto me, You're holding onto me

Its not the End

I have interrupted the spiritual senses topic with this post.
I read a excerpt from Bob Barnes in His book "5 minute devotionals for men", and I really thought that this would just make a difference in someone life right now.

I certainly found strength in the words...What do you think?

If you financial troubles and setbacks - Its not the end
If you have been lied to and deceived - Its not the end
If you have lost your job - Its not the end
If you have lost your home - Its not the end
If something has been stolen from you or you have been robbed of something - Its not the end
If you have a child who is ensnared in sin, entangled in a web, refusing to communicate with you or falling into the wrong relationships - Its not the end
If your mate has walked away and chosen someone else instead of you - Its not the end
If you have just lost a loved one to death, sudden death, expected or unexpected or has committed suicide - its not the end
If you are convicted of a crime - Its not the end
If you are losing your hearing or sight - Its not the end
If you are in the depths of depression, battling depression, have a chemical imbalance that has thrown all your emotions - Its not the end
If you have learned that you have a terminal disease, crippling disease or wasting away disease - Its not the end
If you have stepped onto the threshold of death - Its not the end

(Added my myself):
If you think life is just falling apart and you cannot cope - Its not the end
If you think all you relationships with everyone around you, Partner, parents and family is just crumbling away due to any ones doing - Its not the end
If you think you are not 'good' enough for God - Its definitely not the end.
It may seem like the end
Sometimes, you may wish it was the end
But it is not the end, because God is God and the end has not yet come!
We have to stay strong in the midst of all the 'issues' surrounding us and all the hurt and pain we experience daily/weekly/monthly.

You know what, take your problems to God. Stop trying to tackle them yourself and ask Him to deal with them one at a time.

Bless you as you read this and I hope that any problems that you may experience will be tackled by God head on.

Spiritual Senses (Sense of Taste)

We eat, we enjoy certain foods, we hate some foods. We use our taste buds for this. But what does it mean when we talk about Spiritual sense of taste.
Well its knowing, when we consume something, whether it is good to consumer spiritually or not.

Psalms 34:8 O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.

We need to first taste God to know that or see that He is good. Once we know that, we will begin to trust Him more and more and be able to discern spiritually what is wrong and right to 'consume'.

Those who 'tasted of the heavenly gift' and who 'tasted the word of God' are also partakers of the Holy Spirit and know the powers of the world to come.

The more we taste the Word of God, the more our faith grows daily. But when you taste God and then reject Him, your are, in fact, spitting Him out and this would mean eternal damnation.

Our taste has to be trained to be able to discern different types of spiritual influences. We need to know what to spit out and what to consume. We need to find out more about the Word of God and know that Gods Word is right and true.

John 4:34 Jesus said to them, "My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to finish His work.

If we enjoy something, we will want it more. So if we enjoy good things, Godly things, pure things, we will want it more in our lives and want to taste more of the milk of God.
If we enjoy bad language, porn, adultery and practising in evil ways, then our lives will stay in that direction. We will want more and more of that way. On the other hand, if we enjoy lifting people up, helping others, doing good things and walking a path that Jesus walked, our spirits will be lifted as well and we will want more and more of good things.

Going to the pub for a few drinks or watching TV or going to gym may be so much easier than say, going to church. We need to practise our sense of taste. We need to encourage each other to love others, help others and walk in Gods way. If we don't have that encouragement, our sense of taste will not be "bettered" and we will end up walking in the other direction.

We need to get together as family of Christ, and together, taste the goodness that Christ has for us.

Start licking!

Spiritual Senses (Spiritual Hearing)

He who has ears, let him here.
Something that was said by Jesus many times during His time on earth.
Spiritual Hearing does not mean physical hearing from our ears, but rather a deeper understanding of Gods inner truth in man. It involves understanding the things of God.

Jesus spoke in parables all the time. After He was asked why He talks like this, He said:

Matthew 13:10-15And the disciples said to Him, Why do You speak to them in parables? He answered and said to them, Because it is given to you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of Heaven, but it is not given to them. For whoever has, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance. But whoever does not have, from him shall be taken away even that which he has. Therefore I speak to them in parables, because seeing they see not, and hearing they hear not; nor do they understand. And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah which said, "By hearing you shall hear and shall not understand; and seeing you shall see and shall not perceive; for this people's heart has become gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and they have closed their eyes, lest at any time they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them."

So if we know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, we would understand the parables of Jesus?
Those who listen to God and understand what Jesus said in His parables and when He spoke, are blessed! Yes, but surely we cant just LISTEN, but we have to DO as well!
Those who truly listen and DO what Jesus teaches, He will get more and more, whereas a person who listens and does not DO, will get everything taken away from them.
Very Often we, as humans, turn a deaf ear to Gods prompting/voice, and we choose to direct our "ears" to another direction, an earthly direction.

We often move our "ears"away from God because we don't trust that He will DO. We look at our current circumstances and not from our past spiritual experiences. We forget what God has already done in our lives and we look at our current situation and try to "sort it out" ourselves and ignore Gods prompting.

Galatians 3:2-5This only I would learn from you: Did you receive the Spirit by works of the law, or by hearing of faith? (3) Are you so foolish? Having begun in the Spirit, do you now perfect yourself in the flesh? (4) Did you suffer so many 13

things in vain, if indeed it is even in vain? (5) Then He supplying the Spirit to you and working powerful works in you, is it by works of the law, or by hearing of faith?

Romans 10:17
Then faith is of hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.

What this verse tells me is that we need to really understand the Word of God. Understand the teachings of Jesus, understand what God wants us to do. All of this is in the Bible. With this in thought, we need to develop a spiritual TRUST that what is in the bible is true.
We will then develop a faith that is so strong, it will be rewarded daily by God.
This faith that we develop results in Holy Obedience from us,a way of life and a way that God wants us to live.
So we see that salvation, receiving the Spirit, the supply of the Spirit and "working miracles among you" all result from this hearing of faith. This is a key to Christian living if ever there was one!
It is not just knowledge of God's Word that saves us, it must be combined with faith.

Hearing with faith is believing what God says so that you respond in some way such as calling on God or acting in obedience to a command. Jesus does a miracle and you give glory to God and ponder on what the miracle means. Jesus speaks a parable and you ask for the interpretation and 'get it'. The hearing of faith is having the inner conscience tuned to God's wavelength and ready to believe what God says. When the word of the Lord comes to us (via preaching, the Scriptures, our conscience etc) we can respond in a number of ways including the following:
Faithful-fully believing what God says will come to pass, and being obedient to it.
Unbelief-a flat out refusal to believe what God says, foolish mocking, scoffing etc.
Rebellion-deliberately doing the opposite of what God has said

The hearing of faith is the sure knowledge that God is true, no matter what appearances might be. It is hearing with your heart. It is staking yourself on the nature and character of God because something tells you, in an undeniable way, that this is where the true Truth is.
Satan tries all that he can to destroy this – through doubt, fear, apathy, hardness of heart, distraction, anxiety and making us forget God's goodness to us in the past.
We need to be determined to listen to God with faithful hearts, putting aside all worldly distractions and not being discouraged by life's circumstances. We need to remember God's goodness to us in the past so that we put today's troubles in the perspective of God's forever faithfulness. We need to meditate on His Word and His promises and we need to follow the example of those who have gone before us in the faith.
