Spiritual Senses (Sense of Taste)

We eat, we enjoy certain foods, we hate some foods. We use our taste buds for this. But what does it mean when we talk about Spiritual sense of taste.
Well its knowing, when we consume something, whether it is good to consumer spiritually or not.

Psalms 34:8 O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.

We need to first taste God to know that or see that He is good. Once we know that, we will begin to trust Him more and more and be able to discern spiritually what is wrong and right to 'consume'.

Those who 'tasted of the heavenly gift' and who 'tasted the word of God' are also partakers of the Holy Spirit and know the powers of the world to come.

The more we taste the Word of God, the more our faith grows daily. But when you taste God and then reject Him, your are, in fact, spitting Him out and this would mean eternal damnation.

Our taste has to be trained to be able to discern different types of spiritual influences. We need to know what to spit out and what to consume. We need to find out more about the Word of God and know that Gods Word is right and true.

John 4:34 Jesus said to them, "My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to finish His work.

If we enjoy something, we will want it more. So if we enjoy good things, Godly things, pure things, we will want it more in our lives and want to taste more of the milk of God.
If we enjoy bad language, porn, adultery and practising in evil ways, then our lives will stay in that direction. We will want more and more of that way. On the other hand, if we enjoy lifting people up, helping others, doing good things and walking a path that Jesus walked, our spirits will be lifted as well and we will want more and more of good things.

Going to the pub for a few drinks or watching TV or going to gym may be so much easier than say, going to church. We need to practise our sense of taste. We need to encourage each other to love others, help others and walk in Gods way. If we don't have that encouragement, our sense of taste will not be "bettered" and we will end up walking in the other direction.

We need to get together as family of Christ, and together, taste the goodness that Christ has for us.

Start licking!
Blessings.
