Praying For Others

Have you ever been in a situation where you just know that Gods presence is required. Someone is sick or hurting or in pain, and you just feel that you can do nothing about it because its "out of your hands!"

But there is something you can do. It may be out of your hands but there is someone who's hands hold everything, everyone and are waiting for you.
God, our Saviour! God our Healer!

When your spouse or child or family member falls sick, do you just say "Ag Shame, why not lie down", and then carry on with your daily routine because you think that there is nothing you can do and they should take medicine?
Why not pray for them?
If you don't feel comfortable praying for them out loud in front of them, then do it silently.
Ideally, who could anoint them with oil. This was a widely practised function that used to happen in the times of the Bible.
The oil was used as a symbol of the presence of God.

Now days, we can keep on with this anointing. You don't have to go out and get real Holy oil from the church that has been blessed. Do it yourself.
Go into your kitchen cupboard, get some cooking oil. That's all!
Pray over the oil. Pray Gods blessing over the oil and that the oil may be a symbol of God during this time of healing. Pray Gods Spirit over the oil.

Its not about the substance, Its about the meaning and purpose of what you are doing!
Anoint the person, pray over them that God may protect and heal them.
This doesn't always mean they will "all of a sudden" jump up and be healed. (Although sometimes this does happen).
Sometimes God doesn't always think it the best time toheal someone. (Through weakness we grow strong in faith!)
Its not for us to decide and it doesn't mean that your prayer rendered useless. As we know, God is always listening, but He will never do anything that is against His will or plan for someone life.
You are just bringing someones illness to God!
James 5:14 - Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord.
Yes, the "elders" above doesn't just mean the "experienced, strong faithed" people at church. You can be that person.

Prayer doesn't get mans will done in heaven....Its gets Gods will done on earth!
