Walking With Jesus...

I was at a church service yesterday where our minister, Trevor Hudson, was talking about walking in the Spirit. The Holy Spirit!

Yesterday was Pentecost, this is when Jesus sent out His disciples into the world to preach the good news about Jesus, and that He had risen from the dead and that we, as humans. are saved from eternal death. EVIL is not a threat anymore.
But how do we walk in the Spirit, I thought.

Well, what is the Holy Spirit. Simply put, the Holy Spirit is God the Father and Jesus the Son...here and now, with us, everywhere.
To be able to walk in the Spirit, we need to have the Spirit in us. How do we do that?
Well, we ask God for His Spirit to come into our hearts. Pray to God and be ready to accept His spirit whenever, wherever. You don't have to do special things and say special things for this to happen. God promised His Spirit (The other Counselor) to us anytime we asked...

Luke 11:11-13 - Which of you fathers, if your son asks for[f] a fish, will give him a snake instead? Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!”

The Spirit of Jesus, IS Jesus, here with us...NOW! Its like He is walking with us, in us and around us. Why does He do this? Well, it is to testify to us how to live according to His Fathers will. The Holy Spirit edges us on how to talk, how to think, what to say, what to do, when to keep quiet, when to pray, what situations not to get into etc etc.. All of this in the will of God. So should a situation come around and you are not sure of what to do, think or say..Ask the Holy Spirit (Jesus in you), what He would do?
Sometimes you wont even need to ask, you will get prompted immediately before it even happens.

How do you know its from the Spirit of God, Well if you are at peace with what you are being told, then it is from God. Satan will never prompt you to do something in peace, He is evil and will always bring you down and try to catch you out.
Jesus sent out His disciples to preach the good news to others. Well, that's our job. We are the disciples. It difficult, but you know what, when it becomes a part of your life (The Holy Spirit in us), then it becomes so much easier.

Many people today are pouring their lives out and working for Jesus Christ, but are not really walking with Him. One thing God constantly requires of us is a oneness with Jesus Christ. After being set apart through sanctification, we should discipline our lives spiritually to maintain this intimate oneness. When God gives you a clear determination of His will for you, all your striving to maintain that relationship by some particular method is completely unnecessary.

Keep strong in the Spirit of God.
Amen
